Equine Science Center On The Move 09/11/2003

The Rutgers Equine Science has expanded its staff and opened a new headquarters office on the Cook campus on College Farm Road, sharing facilities with the New Jersey Museum of Agriculture.

The Center has named Diana Orban Brown as Director of Marketing and Communications and Todd Wilkinson as Teaching/Research Associate.  In addition, Dr. Carey Williams, Ph.D., has joined Rutgers Cooperative Extension as Extension Specialist in Equine Science, and she will be working closely with the Center.

Dr. Karyn Malinowski, Dean of Outreach and Extension Programs for Cook College/New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station/Rutgers Cooperative Extension, continues as Director of the Equine Science Center.

Dr. Malinowski commented: “I am extremely pleased that the Equine Science Center – long a dream of horse professionals and owners throughout the state – has been able to expand and to develop such a strong staff.  And the addition of such an exceptional equine specialist, after an extensive search, is further demonstration of the commitment of the university and the Experiment Station to the advancement of equine science in New Jersey.  All of us welcome this dynamic team.”

Dr. Williams received her bachelor of science degree in equine science from Colorado State University and her master of science and Ph.D. degrees from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, concentrating on equine nutrition.  As a youth, she was a member of the U.S. Pony Club, and stayed involved in Pony Club and 4-H while in Virginia.  She has extensive experience in breeding, foaling, farm management, data collection and analysis and other aspects of equine science.

Ms. Brown comes to the Equine Science Center from the Cook College/New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station Office of Public and Alumni Relations, where she was the marketing specialist.  Mr. Wilkinson served as an animal care technician with Alpharma, Inc., a division of Hoffmann-La Roche, before joining the Center.
