Dr. Kenneth H. McKeever Awarded 2003 George Fleming Prize

The George Fleming Prize commemorates the founder of The Veterinary Journal, Professor George Fleming (1833-1901), and is awarded for the paper that is the most meritorious published in the Journal during the year. It is judged on scientific content and originality, style and readability, and contribution to scientific and veterinary knowledge. This is the highest award that can be given by The Veterinary Journal and is one of three literary prizes we give annually.

In 2003, the winners were Dr. K.H. McKeever, Associate Director of the Equine Science Center (corresponding author), with co-authors M.D. Beekley, J.M. Ideus, W.F. Brechue and C.F. Kearns. The title of the winning article was "Chronic clenbuterol administration alters myosin heavy chain composition in Standardbred mares" (The Veterinary Journal, 2003, 165, 234-239; doi 10.1016/S1090-0233(02)00178-8).
