VISIT EQUINE SCIENCE CENTER and 4-H BOOTH

AT 2007 HUNTERDON HORSE EXPO

RINGOES, NJ (May 3, 2007) – Representatives of the Equine Science Center and the Hunterdon County 4-H Program will be present at the 2007 Hunterdon HorseXpo from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 19 and 20 at South County Park on Route 179 in Ringoes.

The event offers a wide range of attractions: equine products and services, 20 hours of demonstrations and seminars and food and fun for the horse enthusiast to the professional, with American World Championship team member Betsy Steiner as the headliner.

The park opens each day at 9 a.m. with the Parade of Breeds and will end each day with a riding exhibition by Steiner. About 100 vendors will be showcasing their products and services. The program includes seminars on such topics as horse care and horse showing, as well as riding and training demonstrations.

Hunterdon 4-H Agent Donna Foulk, one of the Equine Science Center’s affiliated faculty, will present workshops on hay quality and toxic plants. Barri Lynn Everett and Lillian Shupe, 4-H leaders, are putting on a “horseless” horse show, a model horse show and a gymkhana.

In its second year, the Hunterdon HorseXpo attracts people from Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, and New Jersey. The event was inaugurated last year through the efforts of a committee organized by the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce, according to Chamber Director of Marketing and Communications Susan Lax. “The committee’s hard work has put it on the map, bringing companies from beyond the tri-state area to display their products and services.”

The 2007 Hunterdon HorseXpo is supported in part through a grant from the New Jersey Commerce, Economic Growth and Tourism Commission, as well as its sponsors: Hopewell Valley Community Bank, MSI Dust Suppression Systems, Rosedale Mills, NJ Solar Solutions, Weidel Realtors, Skylands of New Jersey Tourism Council, Inc., the Hunterdon Democrat and Horse News, the Hunterdon County 4-H and Hunterdon County. A portion of the event’s proceeds benefits the county 4-H as well as the Dreams Come True Therapeutic Riding Program. The official hotel of the event is the Hampton Inn of Flemington.

Admission to the Hunterdon HorseXpo is $5 per vehicle. For more information about the event or being a vendor, call 908-735-5955 or visit the Chamber of Commerce’s web site: www.hunterdon-chamber.org.
