HORSE MANAGEMENT SEMINAR AT EQUINE SCIENCE CENTER
OFFERS EXPERT ADVICE TO NEW AND PROSPECTIVE OWNERS
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (December 5, 2007) – “So you want to own a horse? And if you already do, what next?” is the provocative theme of the 2008 Horse Management Seminar on Saturday, January 26, 2008, sponsored by the Rutgers Equine Science Center, Rutgers Cooperative Extension and the New Jersey Horse Council.
The one-day seminar is a must for anyone thinking about buying a horse and will be a good refresher course for new and even experienced horse owners, according to Carey Williams, Ph.D., extension specialist in horse management.
Scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Cook Campus Center in New Brunswick, the classroom program features experts in all aspects of horse-keeping. Topics include:
·Equine emergency care and first aid ·Basic equine veterinary care ·The economics of owning a horse ·Horse trailering ·Horse nutrition ·Horse hoof care
“The theory behind this seminar is that owning a horse is the dream of many young people,” says Williams, “and now we are hearing about more and more adults deciding to take up riding and horse ownership. But there is little practical, sound, unbiased advice for these prospects and new owners.” Williams has assembled presenters from throughout the mid-Atlantic area who are recognized experts in their fields to offer their perspectives.
In addition to the educational presentations, the seminar will feature informational displays, door prizes, networking opportunities and ample time for one-on-one discussions.
Early-bird registration is $40 for adults and $20 for youth/students until January 14, 2008. After January 14, the cost goes up $10 for each. Box lunches can also be purchased for $10. The registration form is available on the Equine Science Center website at www.esc.rutgers.edu. For further information, call 732-932-9514. # # #
