RUTGERS EQUINE SCIENCE CENTER UPDATE SET FOR DEC. 7;
TOPICS INCLUDE STRESS PROBLEMS,
HAY CHOICES, WEST NILE VIRUS
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (November 19, 2004) –The Rutgers
Equine Science Center’s Annual “Science Update” will take place from 6
to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, at the New Jersey Museum of
Agriculture on the Cook College campus of Rutgers, The State University
of New Jersey.
The Science Update will include presentations
highlighting the year’s work in advancing equine health, horse
management practices, and solutions to equine industry issues. Topics to
be covered include:
- The State of the Horse Industry in New Jersey
- Is Vitamin E the Antidote to Stress in Your Equine Athlete?
- Impact of Pasture and Hay on Your Horse’s Well-Being
- Exercise: Can It Put Your Horse Off Its Feed?
- West Nile Virus May Be Lurking in Your Barn
This year, for the first time, attendees can
tour campus facilities before the Science Update. Options are a
demonstration of the Center’s high-speed equine treadmill, or a visit
with the current crop of NAERIC-registered weanlings in the Young Horse
Teaching and Research program. Both tours begin at 4:30 p.m. and require
a reservation (call 732-932-9419).
The Science Update includes supper from 6 to 7 p.m.,
followed by the research presentations. There is a suggested donation of
$20 for adults and $10 for students. For additional information,
