RUTGERS EQUINE SCIENCE CENTER

OFFERS FIRE PREVENTION EDUCATION RESOURCES

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (January 5, 2009) – Fire prevention is a year-round necessity, but it is especially critical to increase fire safety efforts in the winter months. Cold weather brings with it the use of internal heating systems as well as heating elements for water sources. If these devices are not maintained, the risk of fire from defective wiring is increased.

The Equine Science Center website has two valuable resources to aid farm and stable personnel in fire prevention. Our fact sheet, "Fire Prevention and Safety Measures Around the Farm," lists many fire hazards and how to correct them. For on-the-go learning, download our podcast, "Fire Prevention on a Farm."
